JD grew up in Tanzania and Uganda, Africa where his family worked with dairy cows for Heifer Project International. His love of animals began there and continued when his family moved to Arizona. Working as a wrangler on a ranch near the Mogollon Rim and for a local veterinarian during high school, helped direct him toward Colorado State for an Equine Science degree in 2006 and DVM in 2010.  JD started Leclair Equine in 2013 and loves serving the horses and people of the Berthoud area. He has a passion for teaching and greatly enjoys educating clients about equine wellness, as well as mentoring up and coming veterinarians. He and his wife Lori live in Berthoud with their 4 kids and are enjoying learning how to raise cattle and grow hay on their little farm.

Francesca Cerri DVM – Veterinarian

Dr. Francesca is from Moorpark, California and grew up with a passion for horses and livestock. Early on she started working on a Quarter Horse ranch in return for lessons and enjoyed reigning and cutting; and later in high school enjoyed barrel racing. She worked as a volunteer technician at an Equine Hospital in Southern California before moving to Colorado in 2016. Dr. Francesca received both her undergraduate and Veterinary degrees from Colorado State University. She worked for Leclair Equine for many years as a technician and we are thrilled that she joined our team as a veterinarian! She enjoys hiking and camping with her two dogs, mountain biking, and being outdoors.

Katelyn – Veterinary Assistant

Katelyn was born and raised in Bakersfield, California where she grew up taking riding lessons, and eventually showing in exchange for helping out on the ranch. In 2018 she moved to Colorado to pursue a degree in Equine Science at Colorado State University. Over her Winter and Summer breaks during her freshman year at CSU, she went back home and volunteered at Bakersfield Large Animal Hospital, where she realized she really enjoyed veterinary medicine.  Katelyn graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in Equine Science and a Masters in Animal Reproduction. She is currently enrolled in the CSU School of Veterinary Medicine. In her spare time Katelyn enjoys reading, and riding.
