JD Leclair, DVM

JD grew up in Tanzania and Uganda, Africa where his family worked with dairy cows for Heifer Project International. His love of animals began there and continued when his family moved to Arizona. Working as a wrangler on a ranch near the Mogollon Rim and for a local veterinarian during high school, helped direct him toward Colorado State for an Equine Science degree in 2006 and DVM in 2010.  JD started Leclair Equine in 2013 and loves serving the horses and people of the Berthoud area. He has a passion for teaching and greatly enjoys educating clients about equine wellness, as well as mentoring up and coming veterinarians. He and his wife Lori live in Berthoud with their 4 kids and are enjoying learning how to raise cattle and grow hay on their little farm.

Katie Ritchie, DVM

Dr. Katie Ritchie grew up in Austin, Texas riding in the hunters and jumpers. When she was nine years old, she decided she wanted to be an equine veterinarian and never looked back. Growing up around sport horses, Katie developed a passion for equine sports medicine. Katie received her biomedical sciences and veterinary degrees from Texas A&M University. She enjoys sports medicine, ultrasound, and internal medicine. She spends her free time hiking, fly fishing, riding, long distance running, and watching Aggie Football. Katie has wanted to move to Colorado since she was in high school and is very excited to be here!

Tiff Tilton – Office Manager

Tiff is originally from Maine where she worked at the race track with Harness Horses, Tiff moved to Colorado in 2015. She enjoys riding her horses, working with cows, going to rodeos, and taking advantage of all that Colorado has to offer. You will probably also see Chloe, Tiff’s Corgi riding along in the truck or hanging around the office!

Francesca Cerri – Veterinary Assistant

Francesca is from Moorpark, California and grew up with a passion for horses and livestock. Early on she started working on a Quarter Horse ranch in return for lessons and enjoyed reigning and cutting; and later in high school enjoyed barrel racing. She worked as a volunteer technician at an Equine Hospital in Southern California before moving to Colorado in 2016. Francesca graduated from Colorado State with a degree in Animal Science and a minor in Biomedical Science. She is now in veterinary school at CSU and plans to be a Large Animal Veterinarian. When not at work or school, she enjoys hiking and camping with her two dogs, mountain biking, and being outdoors. After graduation she is looking forward to owning horse again and exploring the Colorado mountains!

Emma Stienike – Veterinary Assistant

Emma is from Johnstown and is currently studying equine science and business at CSU. She grew up with horses and has been riding since she was just 2 years old. Emma now runs barrels at a professional level and has her WPRA card.  When she’s not busy with school and horses, she loves to snowboard, hike and travel with her family.

Aimee Snow – Veterinary Assistant

Despite being born and raised in Burbank, California, Aimee grew up with a passion for horses. She obtained a Bachelor of Science in Equine Science and Management at the University of Kentucky and then went on to complete a Master of Science in Biomedical Science with a specialization in Assisted Reproduction Technology at Colorado State University. During her time at both UK and CSU she developed a love for equine reproduction and is headed to veterinary school at CSU in the fall! In her down time Aimee enjoys riding her horse, Remi, with CSU’s drill team, going on hikes, and exploring Colorado! 

Lily – Barn Assistant

Many of our clients have known Lily since she was baby riding along in the vet truck. She has become such a huge help and works hard at stocking vet trucks, assisting in the field and baking fresh treats for our staff meetings! Lily enjoys riding her own horse Keeper and loves being a big sister to Jack, Henry and Eleanor.

Jack and Henry – Maintenance Crew

Jack and Henry love doing anything outside, especially when it involves trucks or tractors. They jump in and help whenever they have a chance!
